Woman Finds Hidden Camera In Bondi Hostel Bathroom
A man from Hong Kong is behind bars after being accused of secretly filming a women in the bathroom of a hostel in Sydney.
A French backpacker called police to Lamrock Avenue in Bondi on Monday night after she found a camera hidden inside a stick of deodorant in the shared bathroom.
The 27-year-old women was sharing a room with Charles Chung, an IT worker from Hong Kong, at The Village hostel and police allege that he planted the camera.
The recording device was discovered inside the deodorant lid while the female backpacker was having a shower.
Chung was arrested with the camera allegedly hidden in his underwear. Police also found hard drives when searching his belongings that they allege contained videos of women.
He has since been charged with installing a device, adapting and building to observe or film others and possessing surveillance devices intended for unlawful use.
He has since faced Waverley Local Court on Tuesday where he was refused bail. He is due to reappear in court at a later date.
