Woman Killed At Qld Home, Man Injured

A 75-year-old woman has been killed at a home north of Brisbane with police waiting to speak with a man found injured at the property.

A triple-zero call just after 1pm alerted police to the situation at the house on Topaz Street in Mango Hill.

As well as the dead woman, police located a 50-year-old man with significant injuries.

It's believed the pair are mother and son but police have refused to comment on any relationship between the two people.

The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition and police will speak to him after he has received treatment.

The incident left a large pool of blood on the home's front porch, with students from nearby Mango Hill State School being escorted by police past the scene.

"If your child is walking home via Topaz Drive, police will walk them through the blocked off area and safely to the other side," the school said on its Facebook page.

Shocked neighbours said the street was a quiet, family area and the crime had left them stunned.

"I'm honestly in shock, I can't believe somebody's just died at the end of our street," Emma Bowden told the Nine Network.

Forensic officers are expected to remain at the scene on Friday.
