Zayn Malik Reveals He Developed A Serious Eating Disorder

Zayn Malik has shocked fans by admitting he had a ‘serious’ eating disorder during his five-year stint in One Direction.

In quotes obtained by The Sun, from an autobiography set to be released, the 23-year-old speaks candidly about the illness and admits he went up to three days straight without consuming any food. He revealed he wasn’t concerned about losing weight but was merely attempting to gain control.

He writes: 'When I look back at images of myself from around November 2014, I can see how ill I was. Something I’ve never talked about in public before, but which I have come to terms with since leaving the band, is that I was suffering from an eating disorder.

In March 2015 he broke young hearts around the world when he left One Direction, releasing a shock statement: 'I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.'
