This week the 3pm Pick Up Panelists discuss freedom, independence and at what age children can be left at home by themselves, and can go to the shops by themselves.
There is a statistic from Milo State of Play that states that almost 70% of the parents researched believe that it’s not as safe for children to play outside as it was when they were kids.
The panellists agree that it depends on the individual child – some children are capable at 8 or 9 of being left at home for small amounts of time or to go to the shops by themselves, others are not.
