Under Queensland’s plastic bag ban, which comes into effect on 1 July 2018, retailers are no longer allowed to supply single-use lightweight plastic shopping bags under 35 microns.
These are the plastic shopping bags like the ones shoppers receive with groceries, takeaways and other everyday purchases.
The ban applies to all retailers in Queensland including market-stall holders and organisations which supply plastic shopping bags, for in-store and online sales.
Together, Queenslanders can tackle plastic pollution.
