Jake Shears From Scissor Sisters To Headline Mardi Gras

The world famous Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras celebration kicks off this weekend with the annual Fair Day celebrations and will be followed up by the highly anticipated parade and party on Mach 2nd.

Today we received some pretty darn exciting news about the big event in March that’s got us ready to put on our dancing shoes!

While we already knew that more than 20 DJS and acts like PNAU and Kim Petras would be taking over the Hordern Pavilion for the Mardi Gras after party, we now know who the headlining act will be.

And it’s none other than Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters!

And while they sing about the fact that they ‘Don’t feel like dancin’, this news makes us feel like getting out of our chair and busting some moves!

Speaking with Kyle and Jackie O this morning, Jake told us that he was super excited about performing for Mardi Gras.

“I’m so stoked,” Jake told us. “I’m just so stressed out because I still don’t know what I’m going to wear!”

Well while Jake works with some sparkly fabric swatches, we’ll be over here speculating about what he’s going to be doing in his performance. Such as if he’s going to bring anyone special up on stage with him…?

“Are you going to have any special guests on stage with you?” asked Jackie. "We think it might be Kylie [Minogue].”

Jake stammered trying to get an answer together before saying, “Possibly. You never know.”

It’s been rumoured that Kylie Minogue could perform at the Mardi Gras after party seeing as she’ll have concerts in Sydney for her Golden Tour around the same time.

Fingers crossed we get ourselves a scissor sister x Kylie mashup!
