P.L. Travers, who wrote the famous stories about the acerbic and magical nanny Mary Poppins, was born as Helen Lyndon Geoff in Maryborough in 1899. She changed her name to Pamela Lyndon tracers as her acting stage name.
Pamela never married and died in London at age 96.
Now Disney's Mary Poppins is a stage musical and is coming to Brisbane very soon.
