The world of music has been mourning this weekend after the shocking news that rapper Mac Miller had passed away of an apparent overdose. Tons of celebrities have been posting heartfelt words and touching tributes to the artist, including his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande.
Miller, whose real name is Malcolm McCormick, passed away suddenly on Friday local time at the age of 26. The cause of death was not officially confirmed but it’s been reported that he died of an overdose.
The ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ singer shared a never before seen picture of Miller to her Instagram account on Saturday. The black-and-white candid image showed the rapper sitting as he stared up at the camera, which was presumably held by Grande.
The image had no caption and the comments have been disabled after her account was flooded with messages about the rapper, with some cruel people actually trolling Ariana, blaming her for Miller’s death.
Miller and Ariana dated for two years before parting in May this year. The rapper had reportedly been struggling in the months following the split, leading some people to write horrifying comments like, “This is your fault”, on Ariana’s tribute photo.
Apart from the photo, Ariana is yet to comment publicly on Miller’s death but a source told Entertainment Tonight that she is “devastated” and “very upset”.
“Despite their split, Ariana had always been supportive of his sobriety,” said the source.
When Ariana and Mac first split, the ‘Sweetner’ singer said that she “adored him endlessly” and was “grateful” to have him in her life. However, she later described their relationship as “toxic” and alluded to his issues with substance abuse as the reason for their breakup.
Not long after their split Miller was busted for a DUI and at the time cruel fans also blamed Ariana for the incident.
“I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be,” she fired back at one troll on Twitter. “I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety [and] prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his sh*t together is a very major problem.”

Shortly after her break up with Miller Ariana began dating Saturday Night Live comedy Pete Davidson and the pair moved their relationship very quickly, becoming engaged after just a month of dating. Mac Miller was due to go on tour next month.
His family confirmed his death in a statement, describing him as a “bright light in the world”.
“Malcolm McCormick known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers.”
Our thoughts go out to Miller’s family and friends during this devastating time.
