When we realised Bianca Dye’s official Unofficial Mayor Of Brisbane duties were coming to an end, we knew we had to go with something big.

And what’s bigger and better than awarding one of Brisbane’s Unsung Heroes with a brand new Mitsubishi ASX thanks to Barton’s Motor Group.

We spent weeks combing through amazing nominations for our Unsung Hero – from people who dedicate their life to foster care, or helping refugees assimilate into the community and domestic violence volunteers but don’t want or need fanfare or praise for doing so.

But then we came across the story of Wendy. A real community hero.

Wendy owns and runs Graceville Fine Food and Deli but in her spare time dedicates her life to others.

From collecting donations and raising funds for the flood relief and our local farmers, to cooking up mass Christmas feasts for those less fortunate, she does a lot of selfless work.

Not to mention her next charitable cause, collecting and distributing easter eggs for the kids who are currently involved in domestic violence situations – and who would otherwise go with out this holiday period.

We think all that extra boot space in a brand new SUV will definitely come in handy. And all for a good cause.

Customer and friend Nicole nominated Wendy in our Unsung Hero drive, and we’re so glad she brought our attention to this modest and selfless woman.

And when you see the number of community members, family, friends, and local shop owners who came out to support her today, you’ll understand why she’s such a deserving winner.

Watch above when we surprised her at her store (by tricking her into thinking there was going to be an inspection) and instead handed over the keys to the new Mitsubishi ASX thanks to Bartons Motor Group Wynnum and Capalaba.
