Love Island Australia’s first season may be over now but the drama just keeps on giving.
Yesterday, news broke that the winning couple of the show, Tayla and Grant had broken up, just two weeks after their love scored them the number one title on the show.
Tayla announced the news on her Instagram saying that she couldn’t move on from the fact that Grant had lied to her about having a Girlfriend on the outside when he entered the Love Island villa.
Rumours began circling that Grant had a girlfriend on the outside when the show was still airing, but this wasn’t confirmed until the cast came on the Kyle and Jackie O show for a reunion. Tayla told the guys that she was shocked to find out that it was true and it had caused a serious strain on their relationship.
“He did going into the house,” said Tayla to Kyle and Jackie. “[Breaking up] went through my mind for sure…Obviously coming out and finding out that information, it was a big shock to the system and it was like okay well, do you actually love me?”
While Tayla claimed that the pair would continue to work on building back the trust in their relationship, the betrayal proved to be too much for her to handle and yesterday she called time on their short-lived romance.
Since news of the split broke, the other contestants of Love Island have been chiming in, giving their opinion on the situation.
Eden, who didn’t exactly get along with Grant on the show, told Kyle and Jackie O that he was extremely disappointed in Grant because technically he broke his contract.
“I am pretty disappointed in Grant, you know the Love Island contract was very clear that you must not be in a relationship when you applied for Love Island,” said Eden. “And to hear that Grant apparently broke his contract was very disappointing.”
Australia voted for Tayla and Grant to win the first season of Love Island Australia and as a result they took home $50,000. Tayla was asked to decide whether to split of steal the money and she chose to go half-half with her then boyfriend Grant. Eden and his partner Erin came in runner up to Tayla and Grant.
When asked if he now thought that he and Erin should have won, Eden said that he did think what Grant did counts as cheating and that he should donate the money that he won to charity.
“With this now it’s really up to Grant and Love Island you know what Grant does, like maybe he could even donate his money to charity because really, it was cheating” continued Eden. “As I said the contract said, before you come into Love Island you can’t have a partner you’ve got to be single.”
As for Eden and his partner Erin, he told us that they are still together and one hundred percent in love. Erin is currently living in Melbourne but is planning to move to Sydney to be with Eden in August.
Do you think Grant cheated and Eden and Erin should have won the show?
