The highly anticipated Little Mermaid remake has reportedly found it’s Prince Eric! And this news will certainly make fans extremely happy!
It was reported a number of weeks ago now that former One Direction member Harry Styles was in talks to play the infamous role, with fans giving the idea their tick of approval almost immediately.
And now, according to the DisInsider, Styles has officially signed on for the role.
If the reports are correct, the Sign Of The Times singer will play opposite Halle Bailey, who has been cast as Ariel in the upcoming live action remake.

While Prince Eric doesn’t actually have any songs in the original Disney film, DisInsider is reporting that with a strong singer placed in the role that this may change. So fingers crossed for an Ariel and Prince Eric duet!
This wouldn’t be Harry Styles’ first time behind the camera after he played Alex, a minor role in Christopher Nolan’s war drama Dunkirk. However, this would be his first major role in a film.
There are also talks that Melissa McCarthy is being considered for the role of Ursula, while Jacob Tremblay will reportedly play Ariel’s bestie Flounder and Awkwafina will play the loveable Scuttle.
The live action remake is being directed by Rob Marshall and is due to begin filming in January 2020 in the Caribbean.
It’s expected that more information will be released about The Little Mermaid at the bi-annual D23 expo next week.
