Two years after receiving the earth-shattering news that he had an aggressive brain tumour, Johnny Ruffo has announced that he is officially cancer free.
The 31-year-old former Home and Away actor took to Instagram to share a side-by-side brain scan with the caption, “Exactly two years ago versus today, so glad to have beaten this horrible disease. Thank you for all the support!”
In August 2017, Johnny’s life changed forever when he had a 7cm brain tumour surgically removed, before undergoing intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Doctors discovered the tumour after the young actor/singer experienced painful migraines, and was urged by his girlfriend Tahnee to get them checked.
“Without her, I don’t think I’d be here today,” he said at the time.
“She’s phenomenal. She’s the most incredible person I’ve ever met.”

Since battling cancer, Ruffo has returned to his musical roots, releasing his comeback track ‘Broken Glass’.
“It’s very personal for me. It’s loosely about my experiences in the past two or three years,” he told Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies.
He added, “It’s a song about being down and out, not necessarily with what I went through with cancer, just anything.
“Might be depression, might be losing a loved one, anything… when you’re down and out, you might need a helping hand to get back up again.”
