This morning we heard word that the Married At First Sight gods would be blessing us with even more drama-filled reality TV show viewing with a spin-off show.
Reports claimed that Channel Nine was working on the show, titled MAFS: Honeymoon Island, following the incredible success of the past two seasons for the original series.
The show is set to see former cast members head to tropical paradise for a second chance at finding love, only this time the experts wouldn’t have the final say.
The contestants would enter the show as singles and be able to couple-up themselves, in a similar fashion to Bachelor In Paradise, before choosing whether they wish to marry their partner at the end or leave the show single.
While Channel Nine are yet to confirm whether the spin-off will actually go ahead, rumours immediately began circulating about which of the past, unlucky-in-love contestants would participate.
Ines Basic and Dino Hira have been mentioned from this current season of MAFS, while Tracey Jewel and Ryan Gallagher from season five were also rumoured to be on Nine’s list.
Kyle and Jackie O decided to call up one of the rumoured contestants and friend of the show, Ryan Gallagher, to find out if there was any truth to it.
Ryan told us that he had in fact been approached for a spin-off series but not in a formal way as of yet.
“Yeah I got sent a thing last night,” Ryan confirmed. “I haven’t been actually formally asked.”
But despite being approached, Ryan told us that he doesn’t think that MAFS: Honeymoon Island will actually go ahead here in Australia because he thinks the concept isn’t suited to people who’ve been on MAFS.
“I think it’s a load of crap to be honest with you,” he said. “I don’t think it’s going to happen. No one wants to see us with our shirts off. We’re not Love Island people.”
Don’t tell us that Ryan! We’ve already got it in our minds that this is good to go and we’re SO READY for the drama!
