A maid-of-honour, who was told by her sister she could wear “anything” to her wedding and arrived in a giant inflatable T-Rex costume, has caused outrage online.

Apparently at the wedding it was all taken in the good humour it was intended but the gag has been slammed online, saying the dinosaur only upstaged her sister on her biggest day.

Christina Meador, 38, posted a photo to Facebook from the wedding that has since gone viral, captioning it “When you’re maid of honor and told you can wear anything you choose…I regret nothing🤪”

Others have jumped to Christina’s defence, commenting that the inflatable outfit really matched the flowers, and if their skinnier sister decided to cover up in a dinosaur costume they’d be rapt!

The bride has shown how comfortable she was with it all by defending her sister to strangers online. She said the move was a big ‘middle finger’ to wedding traditions.

“It’s not a joke, it’s a giant middle finger at spending thousands of dollars and putting ungodly amounts of pressure on ourselves just to please a bunch of people who, in the end, only want free food and drinks,” the bride wrote back to one negative comment.

As for Christina, she’s told Daily Mail she had always wanted a dinosaur costume!

“She, knowing that I’m not a big fan of wearing formal dresses and that I probably wouldn’t have a lot of money to buy something really nice, reassured me by letting me know that I could pick out any outfit that I choose,” Meador recalled.

“I was trying to think of something that I would be willing to wear more than once and thought to myself, ‘Well, she did say anything, and if I’m spending more than $50, I want it to be a dinosaur costume, because they’re fantastic and I’ve always wanted one.'”
