She might have had to give up on her acting career in order to marry her Prince Charming, but that doesn’t mean that Meghan Markle will be discounted from awards season!

It’s being reported that the now Duchess of Sussex has been submitted for Emmy Award consideration by USA Network in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her work as Rachel Zane on Suits.

A representative for the network confirmed the news to ET on Tuesday, however, they have made it clear that it’s not unusual for them to submit the main cast for consideration for an Emmy nomination.

The leading actor in the show and Meghan’s onscreen husband, Patrick J. Adams has also been submitted to the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Mike Ross, along with Gabriel Macht for his work as Harvey Specter.

Other Suits cast members submitted for Emmy voting include Rick Hoffman for Supporting Actor as Loius Litt, Sarah Rafferty for Supporting Actress as Donna Paulsen and Gina Torres for Guest Actress as Jessica Pearson.

But being submitted for consideration does not mean that an actor or actress is guaranteed for a nomination and the category that Meghan has been submitted to is highly competitive with people like Chrissy Metz from This Is Us, Ann Dowd and Alexis Bledel from The Handmaid’s Tale, Sophie Turner from Game Of Thrones and Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things also vying for a nomination.

The entire main Suits cast have also been submitted for Emmy nominations each year since the show began but none were successful in actually receiving one for the first six seasons. Is it possible that the seventh season is the charm now that Meghan Markle has some royal power behind her?

But even if the Duchess isn’t successful in her Emmy award nomination, it’s still possible that she could be recognised at the awards. Paris Fitz-Henley, who portrayed Meghan in Lifetime’s Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, has been submitted to the Emmy’s in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie category.

Meghan Markle finished up her acting career in the seventh season of Suits after it was announced that she would marry Prince Harry. Suits will return to USA Network for it’s eighth season on July 18 without Meghan but with the addition of another powerful actress, Katherine Heigl.
