After Kanye West declared he was running for president over the weekend, Mike Shinoda announced his own presidential bid. Okay, not really — it was clearly a joke — but Shinoda 2020 has a nice ring to it.

On Sunday (July 5), the Linkin Park cofounder tweeted the following:

“I, too am running for president*

*have new music out”

This sparked the hashtag #Shinoda2020 and was a topic of conversation during the singer/producer’s latest Twitch session on Monday (July 6).

“I don’t know who my running mate is; I don’t really have a platform,” he told fans with a laugh. “Can I run as a Republican? I like that. I’m gonna run as a Republican … If you’re a Republican in this chat, I want you to write me in on your ballot. Just write me in.”

The new music Shinoda’s referencing is Dropped Frames Volume 1 — an instrumental album composed of songs created during his daily Twitch livestreams that includes the fan-assisted “Open Door.”

Aside from “Open Door,” two other tracks — “Super Galaxtica” and “Osiris” — are available now. The full album drops on Friday (July 10).
