The eyes of Australia were glued to our TV screens as we watched Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot in the beautiful ceremony that occurred at St George’s Chapel on May 19.
But now it seems that the now Duke and Duchess of Sussex have their eyes on us as it’s being reported that they’re looking to buy a property Down Under.
A source has told Woman’s Day that the royal couple are looking for an investment in a secluded area of the Australian bush.
“Harry wants somewhere out in the bush that’s extremely private, within an hour or so of a major airport,” said the source. “He has a fantasy of finding a little vineyard, because Meghan’s talked at length about wanting to learnt the process of winemaking.”
Buying a property down in Oz would make sense for Harry and Meghan as they will be travelling here in October for the Invictus Games and will reportedly be visiting the country at least twice a year thereafter.
The source has said that Meghan and Harry’s role in the royal family will include ensuring ties remain strong between England and Australia and New Zealand while Prince William and Kate Middleton will focus on the bond between countries in the UK.
“Buying property would show Aussies they’re serious about keeping the relationship strong,” continued the source.
As for where Harry and Meghan might lay down their roots, royal experts have predicted that they will be looking in places like Kangaroo Valley near Sydney, Michelago near Canberra or Sarabah near Brisbane.
Each of these locations are fairly close to an airport but are still quite private and offer some of the best parts of Australia’s natural beauty.
Unfortunately though, the royal newly-weds won’t be living full-time in Australia and will actually split permanent residence between a cottage in Norfolk gifted to them by the Queen and a 21-bedroom apartment located on the grounds of Kensington Palace.
