Roseanne’s fate has been up in the air since the cancellation of the ‘Roseanne’ revival and the announcement of ‘The Conners’ spin-off, but actor John Goodman has revealed some super exclusive news.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, the 66-year-old actor confirmed that Roseanne Barr’s character will be ‘killed off’ in the upcoming series.
Though Goodman didn’t go into too much detail, he told the newspaper that his character, Dan Conner, will be “mopey and sad because his wife’s dead.”
ABC cancelled the revival series in May after Barr tweeted racist remarks about former Obama adviser, Valerie Jarrett. The president of ABC Entertainment called her tweet “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.”
In June, the network announced ‘The Conners’ spin-off series, centring on the Conner family, as opposed to the family matriarch. However, it wasn’t clear how they were planning to explain her absence. The revival’s finale ended with Roseanne preparing for knee surgery.
John Goodman’s statement to the Times is the first time somebody associated with the show has spoken about Roseanne’s character’s fate.
