Channel Ten were sent back to the drawing board after their experiment with famous footballer Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins at the helm of The Bachelor Australia last year.
We all know how that ended up…
And so it seems that producers have decided to go for someone on the completely opposite spectrum! Channel Ten publicity have this morning released details about your new Australian Bachelor, Matt Agnew!
And yep, he’s not a celebrity! We’re heading back to the good old Sam Wood days with a newbie running the show!
The Bachelor producers have said that Matt “aims for the stars” when it comes to love… And maybe that will be a bit funnier when we tell you that our Bachie is an Astrophysicist with a passion for space!
Matt is 31 and is currently working on his PhD and is searching for, and we quote, “Earth 2.0”.
While his studies have taken him to many places, including Berlin, Sweden, Buenos Aires and many places across Australia, it has in someways hindered his search for love.
And so it seems he’s decided to head to reality TV for a bit of help!
“I’ve got a real ‘do it once, do it right’ mentality so I’ll be making sure I throw myself into it, be vulnerable and enjoy what comes from that,” Matt said about being the new Bachelor.
“It may be an unorthodox way to meet someone, but I think it’ll be a sensational experience and make for a cracking ‘how we met’ story!”
Matt is one of four kids, currently living in Melbourne, with a passion for AFL, the gym and going for long walks.
He’s looking to meet “the one” during his time on the show, saying that he wants a “genuine woman who enjoys a laugh, doesn’t take herself too seriously and has a real passion for life.”
Our Brainy Bachelor Matt will be handing out the roses for the show’s seventh season. No word yet on when it starts, or should we say launches (little rocket humour there…) but we must say, we’re certainly intrigued!
A smart dude who’s easy on the eyes? Who wouldn’t accept that rose!
