One of Australia’s leading TV writers has chummed the waters by strongly hinting at a return for Big Brother.

On Tuesday morning, the Herald Sun’s Colin Vickery tweeted the rumour that Channel Seven was sniffing around the reality show in an effort to attract a younger audience next year.

He also said that Channel Nine, who currently hold the rights, had to decide whether to hang on to them… or not.

The show was produced from 2001 and ran for eight seasons on Channel 10 before it returned in 2012 on Nine.

It was cancelled five years ago.

Footage recently emerged of a fire at the old Big Brother house, which was left abandoned and derelict on the grounds of Dreamworld.
