Conrad Sewell does not shy away from talking about his past struggles with substance abuse and mental health.

So when our own Bianca Dye asked him about the importance of R U Ok day, he was more than willing to talk.

But did someone pull the 30 year old aside and ask R U OK?

The singer said he got to a point where the question was redundant, he obviously was not okay, going on five day benders and getting caught up in the rockstar lifestyle.

He described feeling invincible during that time – but pointed out that was the biggest problem and that is when the real damage was caused.

Take a listen above.

R U OK day is Thursday 13 September 2018. So take time out today to ask those around you, and those close to you ‘R U OK?’. You never know what someone may be going through.

If you or someone you know are dealing with mental health issues or thoughts of suicide, you can reach out and call Lifeline 24/7 for support and guidance on 13 11 14.

Opposition MP Deb Frecklington also weighed in on the meaning of R U OK day as an ambassador alongside Bianca.

And especially stressed the importance as a mother, a partner and a manager of people at work.
