This incredible organisation needs your help, Brisbane! Do you live in a dog-friendly house? Can you share some of your time with a fury friend?
If you answered yes to those questions, then you might just be what Guide Dogs Queensland are looking for!
Put your paws up to give a puppy a home or donate so others can. Puppy Raisers are a vital part of the GDQ volunteer community. Each raiser commits their time – from as little as four months – to help their promising puppies become Guide Dogs.
Every Guide Dog costs over $50,000 to breed, train and place with someone in need.
Their journey is only possible with the help of people like you.
It takes almost two years to breed, raise and train just one Guide Dog.
Over 3,000 hours of training is invested in each dog before it can start guiding a Queenslander who is blind or vision impaired.
With this cute new life you have already imagined, you’ll have to be responsible enough to take care of regular grooming, house training and exercise, and be available to attend local training days, along with vet checks and Puppy Pre-School. A car and a fenced-in property are mandatory, too. In return, the organisation provides a strong support network, food, vet care and prevention of fleas and ticks.
