Scott Morrison has this evening announced that public gatherings will now be capped at 2 people.
The previous rule was 10 people, that has now been overtaken by the new rule.
It was mentioned by Morrison that means Fitness Bootcamps will now be forced to close unless it is a one-on-one personal training session.
The advice is that all Australians should stay home unless it is for shopping, exercise or for a medical appointment.
States and territories are now considering, following a national cabinet meeting on Sunday, whether to make the two-person limit enforceable.
The limit will not apply to households, education or employment, while skate parks and public playgrounds will also be closed.
In his speech, he also said that any workers should stay home unless they cannot do their job at home.
All people aged over 70 should stay at home and self-isolate, where practical, for their own safety, Morrison said.
