Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath has revealed there have been two new cases of COVID-19 in Queensland, with one linked directly to the Sydney Northern Beaches cluster.

D’Ath said that the cases, a man in his 40s, had travelled to the Northern Beaches in Sydney before rerunning to Queensland.

The man got tested and returned a negative result before being tested again, which is when he tested positive.

The man was in home quarantine when he returned a positive result.

The other confirmed case a woman in her 20s who was a crew member of a superyacht in Cairns, she is now in quarantine alongside her entire crew.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young said the superyacht had arrived from the Maldives and investigations were underway to determine how COVID got onto the vessel.

“I am concerned that we do have the virus in Queensland,” she said.

“We know there were a lot of people who have come back into Queensland from the Northern Beaches area and other parts of Sydney.”

If you are showing any COVID-19 symptoms, you should get tested.
