A Brisbane student has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the closure of a school at Sunnybank.

The student, aged about 13, tested positive on Friday, adding to an earlier case involving an NSW truck driver who tested positive after visiting two Brisbane suburbs on September 5 and 6.

The driver was infectious in the community in Archerfield and Mount Gravatt, in southern Brisbane, on Sunday and Monday and tested positive in NSW after returning from Queensland.

It is not yet clear if there is any link between the student and the truck driver.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said all students at St Thomas More College have been sent home for the day as a precaution.
