Queensland’s coronavirus tally sits at 27 after Hollywood power couple Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were isolated in a Gold Hospital, while a major Brisbane-based Greek festival has been cancelled.

Organisers say the 44th Paniyiri Greek Festival, to be held on May 23 and 24 and usually attended by tens of thousands of visitors, will not proceed because of the coronavirus outbreak.

It’s a first in the history of the event, organising committee chair Chris Kazonis said in a statement.

The announcement came hours after Hanks, 63, announced, he and his wife, had tested positive to the virus in a tweet he posted on Thursday.

He is in Australia to film an untitled Elvis Presley biopic at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast.

Production of the film appears to have ceased after crew turned up to work on Thursday only to find the gates chained and studio officials telling them to go home.

“I turned up to work this early morning and it was all chained up, and we were told to go home because there had been an outbreak of coronavirus,” a crew member, who wanted to remain anonymous, told AAP.

Hanks and Wilson were among seven new cases Queensland Health announced on Thursday.

Of the other five, four recently returned from overseas.

Among the countries they had travelled through were Indonesia, the UK, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.

The other case is a 19-year-old man who contracted the virus after being in close contact with an infected university student.

The 22-year-old went clubbing over the weekend at a Brisbane venue but Queensland Health did not say whether the 19-year-old had also visited there.

As a precaution, officials on Tuesday called on anyone who attended Friday’s Riverside in the CBD, from 6pm Friday until 11pm Monday, and becomes unwell to contact 13 HEALTH.

The student recently returned from travelling in Spain, Italy and France and attended the University of Queensland on two occasions last week.
