First NSW & Victoria… now weather experts are predicting ‘substantial’ snowfall in QLD!

After a weekend of whirlwind weather across Australia, we are expected to experience some extreme winter chills in the coming days.

Bushfires, below average temperatures, gale force winds and heavy snow have consumed the country this past week. The current ‘polar blast’ that has hit NSW and Victoria is moving north and we are set to see ‘substantial’ frost & snowfall in QLD!

Sky News Meteorologist Rob Sharpe said “widespread frost is already biting NSW, inland Victoria and Tasmania, with temperatures dropping to around freezing in many places.”

Adam Blazak, Meteorologist from the Bureau of Meteorology told the Courier Mail, “there’s a chance of sleet or snow in the Granite Belt in the state’s Darling Downs region, while frost could extend as far as the state’s far north.”

This past weekend, just outside of Sydney, Oberon recorded nearly 10cm of snow!

Heavy snow also cut off towns in the Blue Mountains due to ‘dangerous’ conditions on the Great Western Highway, with as much as 14cm settling on the ground in the area.

We’ll just have to wait and see Brisbane… anyone up for a snowball fight?
