NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore recently reported an unusual noise coming from the Boeing Starliner space capsule, which has been plagued by issues during its extended mission. Wilmore and fellow astronaut Suni Williams have been stuck in orbit six months longer than planned due to problems with the capsule, including helium leaks and propulsion failures.
On Saturday, Wilmore radioed Houston’s mission control to report a pulsing noise emanating from a speaker inside Starliner. The cause of the noise was later traced to a feedback loop between the space station and the capsule.

Due to safety concerns, NASA has decided to bring the astronauts back to Earth in a SpaceX capsule in February, leaving behind two NASA astronauts from a later mission to the International Space Station. Starliner is set to return to Earth on autopilot in September, landing in New Mexico without its crew.
